MY BACKGROUND
kNotED by Kimani
Kimani is a Secondary English teacher, published author, and developmental editor with 25+ years of experience helping writers find their voice.
Since 2001, she's taught high school English and Humanities in Columbus City Schools, where she's worked with thousands of students, many of whom she still claims as her own. Her expertise spans the entire writing process: from developing strong thesis statements and refining arguments to mastering grammar, punctuation, and MLA conventions. Beyond mechanics, she understands what makes writing work, how clarity serves purpose, and how authentic voice makes readers listen.
Kimani holds a Master's degree in Education Administration and her Principal Licensure. She's a published author of the Nia series about blended families (drawing from her own experience), A Teacher's Survival Toolkit, and A Mighty Warrior's Journal to Healing and Strength for breast cancer survivors, a perspective she gained personally in 2016.
Through her business, kNotED by Kimani, she brings that same dedication to emerging authors, business professionals, and students. She believes great writing should be both rigorous and authentic, never losing your voice in the pursuit of polish.
When she's not editing or teaching, you'll find her reading, writing, creating content, and building community through her work.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why should I use kNotED by Kimani as opposed to solely using an artificial intelligence (AI) resource, such as ChatGPT?
-
AI can certainly help with grammar and spelling, but it does not have the same level of creativity and intuition as a human editor or proofreader. It cannot understand the varying differences of meanings, expressions, or sounds of language and tone in the same way that a human can, so there will always be a need for human editors and proofreaders.
-
Additionally, there are certain tasks that AI language models are not yet capable of, such as fact-checking and verifying sources. Therefore, while AI can certainly be a helpful tool for editors and proofreaders, it is not a replacement for human expertise.
